WELCOME TO THE SEATTLE SCHOOL OF CANINE STUDIES....FOR PEOPLE.

You are a dog lover. You’ve been known to say you’d choose the company of a dog over a human any day. Your love of dogs goes beyond, “I like dogs” or, “I’m an animal lover.” You can be found just watching a dog, feeling his breath and fur, holding a paw in your hand just to feel the rough texture and warmth. You’ve not only seen but personally experienced the peace and security of a dog. In your circle, you’re the one who “gets” the dog, really watches him, listens. You have a gift. The SSCS was founded for you.

Though today’s dog enjoys a role more integral to our lives than at any other time in history, his behavioral health is in a state of crisis. Despite continued evolvement in canine medicine, nutrition, comfort and puppy care, dogs are still regularly subjected to the behavioral modification techniques of several decades ago. At best, these methods are simply outdated and irrelevant. At worst, they are harmful and inhumane.

Today’s sophisticated human/canine relationship deserves behavior experts worthy of being a part of this fundamental area of canine care. By providing a first-rate education in canine learning theory and behavior, the SSCS prepares graduates to pair their love of dogs with their passion for impacting the current behavior landscape. “The Seattle School of Canine Studies is the Northwest’s only licensed school designed for those looking to become a professional dog trainer, those currently in the field of canine care (such as dog daycare,  dog boarding, dog training, or dog walking) seeking further knowledge in studies of the dog, and for those wanting a sound education in dog training and behavior. The SSCS’s foundation in animal learning theory specific to the companion canine will enrich the most novice dog lover to the most seasoned dog handler. Keep your eye on this phenomenon! ” ~M.S.
