class calendar

The CCS program runs a limited number of times annually. Each core classroom program will run twice a week for three hours each day for 12 weeks.  The optional hands-on training component is available to all accepted students (until full) and runs concurrently with the core classroom program. The program is academically rigorous, fast-paced, and our expectations for excellence are significant.  Enrollees will be expected to not only attend scheduled classes, but also spend time outside of class studying, practicing handling and training techniques learned in class, observing classes, and otherwise committing him or herself to completing the program successfully.  Class space is limited each session to 12 in the lecture component and six in the optional hands-on component.

REQUIREMENTS:

Participants must have at least 1 year of college level education in any discipline. Exceptions to this requirement may be made if the applicant displays exceptional strengths. WHY?.

Participants must be in attendance for all scheduled classes unless special arrangements are made. Lecture classes are held twice a week according to the posted schedule. Students are highly encouraged to attend learning opportunities presented during the program which held outside of these scheduled class times including on and off-site activities. Some class components will be fulfilled through these activities.

Participants are required to make full payment before the program begins in order to secure a spot.

Participants are required to read all suggested materials before the beginning of class. A list will be provided upon receipt of paid tuition.

Class space is limited. If the minimum number of students is not met 30 days prior to the beginning of the session it may be pulled from the schedule. If a session fills a second session may be added or a wait list may be available. MORE INFO.

Those participating in the hands-on optional component of the program are solely responsible for bringing a dog to each hands-on class. Aggressive or disruptive behavior will not be permitted.

Successful completion of the program will be determined by various measures including a written exam. A certificate of completion will be issued at the end of the program if all requirements are met.  Please note that because of the rigor of the program, not every application will be accepted and not every interview will result in and offer of admission.  Because of the academic rigor of the final exam, approximately 80% of test takers pass on their first attempt. For those students who do not pass on their first try, a retake exam is offered two weeks after the initial exam date at a cost of $300.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

All applicants must submit an application via the link below to be considered. Applications are considered in the order in which they are received.

When reviewing applications, the SSCS is screening applicants for maturity, communication skills, willingness to learn, understanding of the current professional canine landscape, and graduate potential. The SSCS has a very high rate of professional success among graduates and our admissions process is key in maintaining this integrity. MORE INFO

Particularly strong applicants will be invited to register without an interview or follow-up questions. Other applicants may be asked to answer follow-up questions via email or meet for a one-on-one interview. Others still may be denied admission at the time of application. MORE INFO

IF ACCEPTED: Full tuition is due at the time a student is notified of acceptance.  Classes may fill without notice. Failure to pay tuition in a timely manner may result in loss of a spot in class. Applications will not carry over to subsequent sessions; if a student is not able to attend the original class for which he or she is accepted the application is forfeited and a new application must be submitted for future sessions.
